Reflection values, happiness and behaviors

Reflection values, happiness and behaviors

Is there a relationship between values and happiness and if so what is it?

It is believe in Coaching that your values is the foundation of the client’s life it’s the core of everything that client’s wants to obtain in life. When we make decision based on our values we feel strong and happier and if what we do is not supported by our values we may not achieve our objective or we feel uncomfortable or it something is not correct.

What is the relationship between behaviors and underlying values?

My Reflection on Self-Awareness

How do you maintain yourself awareness as a coach?

As a coach we need to start believe that we need to make an effort to explore ourselves this endless road of self awareness not only to be perceived more empathically  by our clients as someone the force him-herself  to do it and this way being more trustworthy to ask questions on this regard to our client; but to achieve more success in life by understanding what we like, what we value and what makes happy al around. This will help us understand what process and tools we like and can use better to hel our clients.

But how can we accomplish this ?

My reflections on Creating Awareness

Feed back, Role Playing and Awareness

What is the purpose of feedback in a coaching situation?

Feedback is a way to help a client to create awareness. by providing objective feedback, It will help the client to realize how he is reacting thru body language, tone of voice, emotions, etc, that are difficult for her/him to pick up by themselves and not being “aware”. This aspect is in my opinion one of the best contributions of the coach to clarify ideas, thoughts, behaviors and believes that will help the client to “uncover’ options to achieve the objective of the coaching work.

What are three situations you might encounter as a coach in which role-play could be useful?

My Reflection on Power listening questions

Power listening questions

1.- What are five things that a coach needs to listen for with a client?

The coach is listening not just what the client is saying but how the client express;

– Feelings

– Emotions

Client’s use of language and speech and listen to;

– Pitch

– Tone

and rhythm.

The coach is also interested in what the client is not saying and pays attention to body language and visible changes such face expressions, body postures, voice
changes, etc.

2.- Which of the listening strategies do you actively apply and which would you like more practice with?

Power Listening

My Wonderful Listening Skills

I have tried to be a good listener, as describe in my earlier reflection on the power listening exercise;

As I reflect on my attitudes and the impact of them in my listening skills; maybe due to my training as Operations Leader, I tend to quickly try to seek for problems,
root causes, identify potential solutions, and take actions. I realize now that when having conversations with people in my organization, I try to suggest and
provide options, solutions and recommendations instead of trying to have deeper attention to what people think, what ideas do they have ? in other words using power
listening, maybe using the Socratic method of questioning a bit more; this way, I can help people to find their own conclusions.

Reflections on Coaching Theory

Reflections on Coaching Theory

Which of the adult learning principles are most relevant to coaching?

I believe that all 6 principles of the adult learning principles are relevant but
I could summarized it in that in coaching is based on the fact that the client has the
experience, knowledge and resources with him that will help find the solutions
and answers ( with the support of the reflective Coach) to reach his/her goals
of performance, success, happiness.

What makes coaching a learning activity?

The fact that the clients is exploring in his/her experience, knowledge the answers
and solution to his/her objectives, with the support of the observations of
his/her Coach and through a process of self reflection.

Management Theory, Coaching and New Global Leadership

My Reflections on Management Theory, Coaching and New Global Leadership

I would like to touch in the relationship with the Management Theory (Mc Gregor),
Coaching and new principles of successful Leadership; by respond to the
question of,

Why would a Theory X view of management be incompatible with coaching?

Well my view is that the concepts in the theory X are not only, not compatible with
Coaching but neither with the new global economy and the “new” leadership
principles of teamwork and synergy.

Power Tools in Coaching – Action and Communicating

Creating Action
Action is a fundamental focus in coaching. Although planning and goal setting are part of a process to move a client from one place to another, successful coaching requires the client to take action as this is the only way to achieve their goals and with it have a successful coaching relationship.

Communication in Coaching
Among the aspects that have an impact in communication are:

1. – Individuals personalities: (introverted vs. extroverted)
2. – Personal experience: (being allowed to speak as a boy or limited)
3. – Practice experience: (communication self-confidence, trained and practice on group speaking)

These three aspects will have an impact on communication from their “perceptual positions” and from the skills learned due to their personality and practices.

Coaching Vs Mentoring

They differ on the bases of the help provided. A mentor in general is an experienced person in the matter that the “client” is getting support on. The mentor not only takes the client into finding the answers but also provide “expert advice” to the client.
