One aspect taht is very important in coaching, is to acknowledge our clients in their efforts, actions and successes.
How often do we have people to cheer us on in life?
How often does someone let us know that they see?
The focus is on frequency, in how often we acknowledge others or how others do the same to us.
In a way this questions are asked do to the feeling, that we do not provide acknowledgements as often as we should, or we do not get enough acknowledgement ourselves.
I started to reflect on why this is the case. The first idea that came . . . .
The first idea that came into my mine was the fact that we tend to abuse of compliments on praises in a way that any acknowledgement could be perceived as not “real” or something just provided to comply to the norm of “good citizenship” but not a real acknowledgment of an specific action or valuing the person for who they are. Therefore, I perceived that people are cautious to any praising or acknowledgement.
However, I agree we the comment on the reading, the fact, that we all appreciate getting acknowledgements. hence, is important to do it but we need to keep in mind that we need to be authentic and when acknowledging someone we need in truth to connect the facts, the action and the reason we are providing the acknowledgement this way will be received better as an authentic comment that will provide the expected benefits in the receiver.
Keeping in mind that Acknowledgment occurs after action, it comes sincere with positive energy on the comment to bring a feeling of accomplishment in the receiver.
