Management Theory, Coaching and New Global Leadership

My Reflections on Management Theory, Coaching and New Global Leadership

I would like to touch in the relationship with the Management Theory (Mc Gregor),
Coaching and new principles of successful Leadership; by respond to the
question of,

Why would a Theory X view of management be incompatible with coaching?

Well my view is that the concepts in the theory X are not only, not compatible with
Coaching but neither with the new global economy and the “new” leadership
principles of teamwork and synergy.

Coaching is based on a concept that, in fact the client has all the resources and by
knowing how to use them (with the reflective support of the Coach), will be
able to achieve his expectations on performance, happiness and success.

In the other hand, the new or accepted “Global” leadership principles assum that
to succeed by managing all available global resources & knowledge we must
rely on the synergy of work of people and that nobody has by him/herself more
knowledge and skills that the knowledge and synergies of a team or employees.

An effective leadership on this situation is the one the is providing resources
and eliminating barriers to the teams to achieve success. This leadership is
similar to coaching on the premise that all relations are based on trust and
respect.
