Coaching requires a good communication between coach and client with the purpose to identify opportunities and actions with the purpose of helping the client to achieve his vision or main goals.
Although there are many coaching process as coaches styles are; my coaching model (IDEAS model) is one that helps the coach with a process that start by building a safe
and supportive environment, creating trust. Will include a discovery phase in which self reflection and awareness are an important part of it. this phase also may include some type of diagnosis or behaviors assessment. This is where strengths and opportunities are identified.
A second phase is the evaluating phase that may include the creation of awareness by reflecting on findings from phase one, as well as, reviewing new options.
A third phase will focus on aspirations, this is defining the client’s vision, exploring and evaluating gaps, recalibration and identify and setting new goals.
The fourth phase is a key process in coaching: Creating Successful Actions. Part of this phase is to identify actions, creating an implementation plan, reviewing progress to sustain and adjust actions.
According to ICA. . ..
According to ICA, a coach offers many things to the client during the coaching process such as:
1. Support to discover the answers within him or her self
2. Clarification of values
3. Co-creation of a plan for how to achieve what the client really wants
4. A sounding board for new ideas
5. Support in making life changing decisions
6. Challenge to expand their views beyond their perceived
7. Direction
8. Acknowledgement
9. Encouragement
10. Resource of information
The coach also could make use of many tools to support clients. Some of those tools are called power tools (see Power tools for more information….)
